This award covers the main conference registration fees as well as discounts price for workshop participation fees (3,000 yen from 5,000 yen) for up to 8 international scholars.

1. Award Purpose

Mixed methods research (MMR) is an approach to research in social, behavioral, and health sciences in which the investigator gathers both quantitative (closed-ended) and qualitative (open-ended) data, integrates the two, and then draws interpretations based on the combined strength of both sets of data to understand research problems.

JSMMR is hosting the Asia Regional Conference in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan between September 14th and 16th, 2019. By awarding the scholarship for the conference participation we hope to provide international researchers and students, especially those from Asian countries, with the access to the high-quality scholarship in mixed methods research.


2. Award Coverage

This award covers the main conference registration fees as well as discounts price for workshop participation fees (3,000 yen from 5,000 yen).

It does NOT cover any travel either lodging costs and the application for VISA is responsible for the applicant.

Awardees are asked to pay registration fees first and will be given the cash equivalent to the award will be given in Japanese yen at the registration desk when coming to the conference.

 

3. Eligibility

Applicant must be a faculty member, a researcher, a practitioner or full-time or part-time students who is utilizing or intends to utilize MMR. Preferences are given to those who, at the time of submission, are citizens of, and live and work in, any of the countries that the World Bank classifies either as low-income, lower-income, or upper-middle income country. However, all international scholars, especially students, from other countries will be considered.

Although not required, applicant who submits a paper to the conference to be a presenter will be given preference in the selection.

Applicant must be able to communicate either in English or Japanese.
